Since 1999 Care Alliance Ireland has received core funding from the Department of Health and Children and more recently from the HSE.
Care Alliance has also secured philanthropic donations in recent years.
Most recently(2008), we have secured funding for the period of 2008-2010 from the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs under their funding scheme to support national organisations in the community and voluntary sector.
Membership fees of €25 per member organisation are also a small source of funding, as well as income from seminars and conferences.
In recent years we have been successful in securing research funding from the Combat Poverty Agency (2007) The Citizens Information Board (2009), The Department of Health and Children (2009) and the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS, 2009).
We also receive occasional small scale funding from the National Lottery to undertake seminars as well as towards the cost of co-ordinating a National Carer’s Week.
For several years, Care Alliance has relied on the goodwill of several member organisations, in particular Age Action Ireland, who has hosted Care Alliance in their Headquarters in Camden Street, Dublin 2. In May 2006, Care Alliance Ireland moved into The Carmichael Centre in Dublin 7, which specialises in providing support services to small voluntary organisations. (www.carmichaelcentre.ie)
